Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 1994 under the Acit label, the self-titled album 'Quero-Quero' by Grupo Quero-Quero stands as a representative entry in the regional music scene of Southern Brazil. The group, deeply rooted in the gaucho musical tradition, utilized this record to further cement their place in the repertoire of traditional folk dance and music, commonly associated with the baile traditions of the Rio Grande do Sul region.

The production reflects the standard aesthetic of mid-nineties regional Brazilian music, emphasizing accordion-led arrangements and lyrical themes focused on rural life and cultural heritage. While the specific design choices behind the album art follow the utilitarian style typical of smaller regional independent labels of the time, the record remains a preserved document of the group's contribution to the preservation of local folk sounds during a period when mainstream pop influences were rapidly shifting the Brazilian musical landscape.
