Quiero Que Me Quieras

Quiero Que Me Quieras, a Spanish-language adaptation of Cheap Trick's signature hit I Want You to Want Me, was released in 1978 under the Epic label. It emerged from the band's Heaven Tonight era, a period during which their label sought to leverage the group's rising international profile. The recording was a deliberate effort to capture the burgeoning power-pop market in Spanish-speaking territories by presenting a translated version of the track that had already gained significant traction on the American charts.

The arrangement stays faithful to the tight, melodic rock structure characteristic of Rick Nielsen's songwriting and Tom Petersson's bass lines. While the band is famously associated with their raucous live energy, this studio recording reflects the polished production aesthetic favored by Epic Records at the time. Although it remains a niche curiosity for international collectors compared to the English-language original, it stands as a documentation of the industry's mid-seventies practice of localized marketing for global rock acts.
