Quintett H-Moll Op. 115 Für Klarinette, 2 Violinen, Viola Und Violoncello / Quartett A-Dur KV 298 Für Flöte, Violine, Viola Und Violoncello

Released by Electrola in 1965, this recording captures the Drolc-Quartett in collaboration with guest soloists to perform two pillars of the chamber music repertoire: the Brahms Clarinet Quintet in B minor and the Mozart Flute Quartet in A major. The Drolc-Quartett, led by the distinguished violinist Eduard Drolc, was a prominent German ensemble during the mid-twentieth century, known for their disciplined technique and adherence to the Central European tradition of chamber performance.

The recording serves as a showcase for the ensemble's ability to balance Brahms's dense, autumnal late-period lyricism with the transparent, light-hearted artifice of Mozart’s flute composition. Electrola, acting as the German affiliate of EMI at the time, produced this disc as part of their effort to preserve high-fidelity interpretations of classical standards. The production was well-regarded for its clean engineering and the Drolc-Quartett's characteristic precision, reflecting the high standards of the German recording industry during the 1960s.
