赤鼻のトナカイ = Rudolph,The Red-Nosed Reindeer

Released by Toshiba Records in 1962, this recording of 'Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer' features the vocals of Mari Umeki, a prominent child star and singer in Japan during the early 1960s. The record emerged during a period when Western holiday standards were being increasingly localized and embraced by the Japanese recording industry to cater to a growing domestic market interested in international popular music.

The production sought to blend the festive, jaunty tone of the American original with the polished, orchestral style favored by Toshiba at the time. Mari Umeki’s performance was well-regarded for its youthful energy and clarity, helping to solidify the song's place in the canon of Japanese holiday music. It remains a notable example of mid-century Japanese interpretations of classic Christmas repertoire.
