Where it came from
Schickler's Concertorgel Spielt Klassische Melodien features the distinctive sound of the 62er Wrede-Konzertorgel, an instrument originating from the tradition of German fairground organs. Built by the Wrede firm, which was renowned for its mechanical musical instruments, this organ represents a period where automatic orchestrions provided entertainment in public spaces, dance halls, and fairs before the ubiquity of recorded electronic music.
This specific recording was produced under the Chor Music label, catalog number CM 2097, as part of a niche endeavor to preserve the acoustic character of mechanical organ performances for home listeners. The design of the release focuses on capturing the authentic mechanical nuances of the 62er Wrede-Konzertorgel, serving as a documentation of heritage craftsmanship rather than a contemporary commercial pop release.
