Released in 1984 under the Eurodisc label, this recording brings together the Prague Chamber Orchestra and the esteemed oboist Hansjörg Schellenberger to interpret the six concertos of Tomaso Albinoni's Op. 7 and Op. 9. Albinoni, a contemporary of Vivaldi, is often credited with helping to establish the concerto form for the oboe, and these works are noted for their graceful interplay between the soloist and the string ensemble, reflecting the elegance of the Venetian Baroque period.
