Where it came from
Released by the Telefunken label in the mid-20th century, this record serves as an auditory collection of classic European literature curated for a younger audience. It brings together timeless fairy tales and short stories from legendary authors including Hans Christian Andersen, the Brothers Grimm, and Theodor Storm, reflecting the cultural emphasis on bedtime storytelling within German-speaking households during the post-war era.
The production relies on the narrative artistry of Ingeborg Walther, whose vocal delivery was intended to evoke the intimate atmosphere of a nursery. These spoken-word recordings were designed to provide an educational and calming experience for children, fitting into the broader catalog of Telefunken's children’s records that aimed to preserve traditional folklore through the then-modern medium of vinyl.
