Shujševalna Kura / Zinka, Zefka, Zofka

Released in 1975 on the Helidon label, this record represents a quintessential slice of Alpine folk music, featuring the inimitable Franc Košir alongside the Ansambel Bratov Avsenik. Košir was a beloved figure in the Slovenian music scene, renowned for his humorous stage presence and ability to bridge the gap between traditional folk instrumentation and comedic storytelling. This specific release captures the lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek atmosphere that defined the performances of the Avsenik ensemble, who were instrumental in popularizing this regional style across Central Europe during the mid-twentieth century.

The production aligns with the broader discography of Helidon, a label that played a critical role in documenting the Slovenian music industry throughout the Yugoslav era. The design and presentation reflect the aesthetic norms of the period, prioritizing clear, accessible imagery to appeal to fans of the popular narodno-zabavna glasba genre. While specific credit for the illustration remains part of the collective studio output of the era, the work is regarded as a nostalgic touchstone for listeners who associate Košir’s signature wit with the vibrant cultural landscape of Slovenian folk music in the 1970s.
