Where it came from
Released in 1981 on the Swiss label Tell Record, Si Isch Guat D'Jenny-Musig serves as a quintessential representative of the Ländler music tradition. The album features the Schwyzerörgeli-Duett Christian und Josias Jenny, a musical duo deeply rooted in the folk traditions of the Swiss cantons. Their work is characterized by the use of the Schwyzerörgeli, a traditional Swiss button accordion, which provides the distinctive, rhythmic foundation for this genre of alpine dance music.
The album was produced during a period when the Tell Record label was actively documenting and preserving regional Swiss folk music. The design aesthetic of the record sleeve adheres to the conventional style of the era, focusing on the performers' craft and the heritage of the music. It remains a valued artifact for enthusiasts of traditional Swiss folk, reflecting a commitment to the authentic, melodic, and upbeat performance style that defined the Jenny duo's contribution to the local musical landscape.
