Where it came from
Storia Di Un Uomo E Di Una Donna was released in 1972 on the Numero Uno label, founded by Mogol and Lucio Battisti. This album represents the second studio effort from Formula 3, a prominent Italian progressive rock trio consisting of Alberto Radius, Tony Cicco, and Gabriele Lorenzi. The project emerged during a period of creative experimentation in the Italian music scene, as the band moved away from their earlier pop-leaning work toward a more complex, atmospheric sound rooted in progressive structures.
The album is noted for its cohesive conceptual approach and its deep integration with the songwriting prowess of Lucio Battisti, who was instrumental in the production and creative direction of the Numero Uno roster. The cover design and musical arrangement reflect the era's transition toward conceptual LPs, aiming for a sophisticated aesthetic that matched the band's instrumental proficiency. It remains a respected entry in the Italian progressive rock discography, often cited for its influence on the development of the genre within Italy during the early seventies.
