Storico Vol 2 (Historic-Historisch-Historique)

Released in 1976 by the Italian label Cinevox, Storico Vol 2 was part of a specialized series curated to showcase the vast potential of production music for film and television. During this era, Cinevox became synonymous with the Italian giallo and exploitation film soundscape, often repurposing orchestral and experimental cues for varied media applications. This particular volume sought to provide a versatile library of historical and atmospheric compositions, catering to the needs of directors and editors looking for evocative, ready-to-use cues that could define a scene's period or emotional weight.

The album serves as a testament to the collaborative, craft-focused nature of the Italian library music scene in the mid-seventies. It features a curated selection from various composers who were often anonymous or credited under pseudonyms, highlighting the technical proficiency and stylistic range prevalent in Rome’s recording studios at the time. While these library records were initially intended for private professional use rather than public retail, they have since gained significant appreciation among collectors for their high-fidelity production, innovative instrumentation, and the unique window they provide into the functional music industry of the period.
