udmurt rave (Finno-Ugric Folktronica From Udmurtia)

Udmurt Rave, released in 2023 by the artist known as post-dukes under the KOTA TONES label, represents a distinct exploration of the musical heritage of the Udmurt Republic. The project integrates traditional Finno-Ugric vocal patterns and linguistic elements with contemporary electronic production, positioning itself within the burgeoning global folktronica scene. It serves as a modern bridge between ancient Udmurt folklore and the high-energy aesthetics of underground rave culture.

The album was conceptualized to document and reimagine regional sounds that have historically remained outside the mainstream electronic music sphere. By utilizing synthesized textures alongside traditional instrumentation, post-dukes aimed to create a soundscape that feels both anthropological and futuristic. Upon its release, the record was noted by listeners for its commitment to preserving Udmurt cultural identity through a sophisticated, club-oriented lens, highlighting a unique micro-genre emerging from the Volga region.
