Where it came from
Released under the Electrecord label in Romania, this recording features the virtuosic violin performances of Alexandru Țitruș. During the mid-twentieth century, Electrecord served as the primary state-owned record company in Romania, playing a critical role in preserving and documenting the nation’s classical and folk instrumental traditions. This particular catalog number, ST-EPE 02159, emerged as part of the label's efforts to showcase the technical prowess of leading Romanian musicians to both domestic and international audiences.
The design and production of this album reflect the mid-century aesthetic of Eastern European classical releases, prioritizing clarity of performance over ornate cover art. Alexandru Țitruș was widely respected for his technical precision and expressive capabilities on the violin, and this collection was intended to solidify his legacy as a master of the instrument. The recording remains a valued archival piece for collectors of violin repertoire and those interested in the post-war Romanian musical landscape.
