Works In Metal

Works In Metal was released in 2025 on the influential London-based label Honest Jon's Records. The album represents a continuation of Lamin Fofana's rigorous exploration of sound, drawing from his background as a producer and artist interested in the intersection of electronic composition and the sociopolitical conditions of the African diaspora. Fofana, known for his dense, atmospheric, and often challenging sonic landscapes, utilizes this record to engage with themes of labor, history, and materiality through a minimalist, experimental lens.

The album's design and conceptual framework align with the label's commitment to releasing music that defies easy categorization while maintaining a high degree of intellectual and aesthetic precision. Much like his previous works, Fofana’s compositions on this record rely on textured synthesis and rhythmic deconstruction, aiming to provoke deep listening rather than immediate gratification. The reception among critics and fans of contemporary electronic music has focused on Fofana's ability to maintain a singular, haunting sonic signature that bridges the gap between club-oriented abstraction and ambient sound design.
