Xie-Xie!

Released in 1986 on the Fun House label, Xie-Xie! serves as a representative artifact of the mid-1980s Japanese pop and city pop landscape. The record label, Fun House, was a prominent player during this era, often associated with polished production values that defined the sound of the Japanese music industry throughout the decade. This album was positioned within a competitive market where experimental synth-pop and upbeat, sophisticated arrangements were capturing the attention of urban listeners.

The album reflects the collaborative, studio-centric approach favored by production teams at the time. While specific design credits for the sleeve art remain part of the broader, stylized visual language common to 1980s Japanese pressings—often emphasizing minimalist photography or vibrant, graphic typography—the album is primarily noted by enthusiasts today for its instrumental textures and the characteristic clarity of the 1980s Fun House mastering style.
