Where it came from
Released in 2003 under the XXX imprint, XXX-X Part 002 stands as a representative artifact of the mid-2000s electronic music scene. This record was produced during a period when independent labels focused on niche distribution for club DJs, emphasizing a stripped-back, functional approach to sound design that was characteristic of the era's output for labels operating within this specific stylistic ecosystem.
The collaborative effort between artists Le Lutin and 3K reflects the collaborative culture of underground dance music at the time. By focusing on the structural interplay between rhythm and atmosphere, the release aimed to provide DJs with reliable, repetitive tracks tailored for late-night settings. It received a modest, targeted reception among vinyl enthusiasts who valued the raw, unpolished aesthetic that defined many of the white-label and limited-run pressings of the early 2000s.
