XXX-X Part 1

Released in 2003 under the XXX imprint, XXX-X Part 1 represents a specific moment in the evolution of independent electronic music production. The collaboration between Facs & Scythe and B Key emerged from a period of cross-pollination within the experimental bass and techno scenes, capturing a raw, minimalist aesthetic that favored textured soundscapes over conventional arrangements. The release, cataloged as XXXX001, served as a foundational project for the label, setting a tonal precedent for subsequent technical experimentation.

The design of the record, characteristic of early 2000s independent distribution, prioritizes a stark, functional visual identity that reflects the industrial undertones of the music itself. Created to function as a bridge between atmospheric sound design and dancefloor-oriented percussion, the project was received by contemporary music journalists as a deliberate departure from the era's more polished mainstream trends. Its production remains noted for its reliance on tactile, hardware-driven synthesis, which has garnered a modest following among collectors of underground electronic pressings.
