Where it came from
Released in 1977 on the Totem label, this single is a humorous musical collaboration between Réal Béland and the artist known as Jade. The track 'Ya Rien La!' is a quintessential example of the comedic pop music produced in Quebec during the late 1970s, a period where radio personalities and entertainers frequently crossed over into the music charts with novelty songs.
The B-side, 'Yakety Yak', is a localized interpretation of the classic Leiber and Stoller rock and roll standard. The record reflects the vibrant and often whimsical nature of the era's francophone entertainment industry, capturing a lighthearted moment in the prolific career of Béland, who was well-regarded for his comedic versatility and presence in Quebec's broadcast and stage culture.
