Where it came from
Released in 1974 by Elenor Plak, this 45 RPM single represents a quintessential period in Neşe Karaböcek’s career, during which she transitioned from her child-star roots into a sophisticated performer of Turkish popular music. The tracks reflect the era’s trend of blending traditional Anatolian folk sensibilities with contemporary arrangements, a sound often characterized by heavy orchestration and emotional vocal performances that defined the Turkish pop scene of the mid-1970s.
The production was spearheaded by Muhtar and Atilla Soylu, the founders of Elenor Plak, who were instrumental in shaping the aesthetic of Turkish Arabesque and pop during this decade. The design of the sleeve adheres to the standard minimalist yet evocative aesthetic common to the label’s releases of that time, focusing on portraiture to center the artist’s persona. Upon its release, the single was well-received by listeners of the time, solidifying Karaböcek's status as one of the most prominent female voices in the Turkish music industry.
