Where it came from
Released in 2001, this remix of Olive's 1996 hit You're Not Alone serves as a notable example of the unofficial bootleg culture that flourished in the early 2000s trance and house music scenes. It was produced by German DJ and producer Ronny Rockstroh, who gained recognition for his ability to rework established pop and electronic anthems into club-ready edits designed for German dance floors.
The record was self-released under the catalog number MAI 02, lacking the backing of a major label and characteristic of the limited-press white labels common in European electronic music during this period. Rockstroh aimed to preserve the melancholic vocal hook of the original track while driving it with a heavier, more percussive arrangement, a style that became a trademark of his production work in the underground circuit.
