Where it came from
Zig-Zag was released in 2009 by the veteran French rock and pop singer Eddy Mitchell on the Barclay label. As a significant entry in his extensive discography, the album serves as a reflection of Mitchell's long-standing affinity for American musical traditions, including rock and roll, country, and blues. It captures the artist at a mature stage of his career, continuing his legacy as one of the pioneers who introduced rock music to the French public during the early 1960s.
The album production emphasizes Mitchell's signature style, blending nostalgic Americana with lyrical themes that often touch upon life, travel, and personal observation. Designed to resonate with his dedicated fan base, the cover art and overall packaging adhere to the classic aesthetic associated with his catalog. The record was generally well-received by his core audience, maintaining his status as an essential figure in the landscape of French popular music throughout the late 2000s.
