Where it came from
Zig-Zag Walk was released in 1983 as the eleventh studio album by the British rock band Foghat. By the early 1980s, the band had transitioned from their peak late-seventies success toward a sound that integrated more contemporary production elements. Issued on the Bearsville label, the album reflects a period of musical experimentation for the group as they navigated the changing landscape of rock radio and the evolving expectations of their long-time audience.
The album cover art and design maintain the visual identity common to Bearsville records of the era, focusing on a straightforward, graphic aesthetic. While Foghat is best remembered for the blues-infused boogie rock of their earlier discography, Zig-Zag Walk serves as a historical marker for their endeavor to remain relevant in a post-new wave environment. It remains a representative piece of their later catalog, capturing a specific moment of transition for the veteran band.
