Where it came from
Released by the Swiss label Tell Record, the T. 1154 record captures a vibrant snapshot of mid-century Alpine folk music. During the mid-20th century, Tell Record played a crucial role in documenting the traditional sounds of the Swiss cantons, specifically focusing on the distinct musical heritage of the Valais region. This record brings together renowned regional performers including the Kapelle Walliserbüebe, Adolf Walpen, and the Walliser Jodeltrio Leo Zeiter-Geschwister Muster, reflecting the communal and festive spirit of local gatherings.
The design and production of this release were intended to preserve the authentic style of Ländler music and yodeling that defined the mountain culture of the era. By assembling a collection of varied ensembles on a single catalog entry, the label provided listeners with a curated experience of local instrumentation and vocal traditions. The record remains a valued artifact for enthusiasts of ethnographic Swiss music, prized for its honest representation of the performance styles that were prevalent in Valais alpine halls and village celebrations.
