Provenance

Where it came from

Banishment of the Darklords was released in the 2016 TCG set Destiny Soldiers. This booster set was designed to bolster the Darklord archetype, a series of Fairy-type monsters known for their high-level stats and graveyard-manipulation abilities. The card itself serves as a crucial engine for the deck, functioning as a searcher that allows players to add any Darklord card from their deck to their hand, significantly increasing the consistency of the archetype's strategies.

The artwork depicts the fallen angelic themes consistent with the Darklord aesthetic, emphasizing a moody, dark fantasy visual style. While specific individual designers at Konami are rarely credited for individual card illustrations, the aesthetic follows the internal design language established for the archetype's introduction. Upon release, the card was well-received by competitive players for its utility, and the Secret Rare print from Destiny Soldiers remains a sought-after version for collectors due to its distinctive holographic foiling.
