Provenance

Where it came from

Banishment of the Darklords was released in the Maze of Muertos booster set as a crucial support card for the Darklord archetype. Within the lore of the game, this spell represents the ritualistic exile or expulsion of high-ranking angelic beings who have fallen from grace, reinforcing the deck's aesthetic of fallen divinity and ecclesiastical power.

The card was designed to function as a powerful search engine for the Darklord strategy, allowing players to add any Darklord card from their deck to their hand. Its reception among players was notably positive, as it provided much-needed consistency to a deck type that previously struggled with resource management, effectively anchoring the competitive viability of the Darklord theme during its time in the tournament meta.
