Bottomless Trap Hole

Bottomless Trap Hole was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2003 Legacy of Darkness expansion. As part of a set that focused on introducing darker, more complex mechanics to the game, this card was designed to provide players with a powerful method of removal for monsters with high attack points. Its arrival marked a significant shift in competitive play, as it punished players for committing high-value resources to the field without defensive preparation.

The card features an illustration depicting a monstrous, gaping pit consuming a creature, a motif consistent with the visceral, gothic art style prevalent in the game's earlier sets. Designed by Konami's team to balance the meta, it quickly became a staple in tournament decks due to its versatility and ability to permanently banish threats rather than merely destroying them. It remains a hallmark of the game's history, frequently reprinted as a foundational defensive tool.
