Call of the Haunted

Call of the Haunted is a foundational continuous trap card in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, originally appearing in the Pharaoh's Servant booster set in 2002. As a staple for graveyard recursion, the card depicts a skeletal hand emerging from a tombstone, a classic aesthetic that became iconic in the game's early years. The Lost Art Promotion, which launched in 2018, served as a celebratory initiative by Konami to release official English versions of cards that had previously featured artwork censorship or modifications compared to their original Japanese counterparts.

The LART-EN009 release specifically restored the original, more morbid Japanese artwork featuring a visible cross and a more direct depiction of the undead, which had been altered in earlier Western prints to be more subtle. This promotion was aimed at long-term collectors and fans of the game's history, allowing them to own the version of the card that had been unavailable in English-speaking territories for nearly two decades. The design remains a testament to the game's evolution from its darker artistic roots toward the more stylized global aesthetic seen in later years.
