Card Trooper

Card Trooper first debuted in the 2007 Tactical Evolution expansion set, representing a shift toward graveyard-reliant strategies in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. Designed as a machine-type monster, it introduced a versatile mechanic that allowed players to mill cards from their deck to increase the monster's attack power, effectively turning a resource cost into a tactical advantage. Its inclusion in the Legendary Collection 2: The Duel Academy Years Mega Pack served to make this staple card more accessible to a new generation of players years after its initial competitive peak.

The artwork, characterized by its mechanical, utilitarian aesthetic, embodies the cybernetic themes prevalent in the GX era of the franchise. Upon release, Card Trooper was highly regarded by tournament players for its ability to thin the deck and provide a draw effect upon destruction, cementing its status as a foundational card for many graveyard-focused deck archetypes. Its design remains a hallmark of early-to-mid 2000s card balance, prioritizing utility and engine consistency over brute force.
