Provenance

Where it came from

Fighting Spirit was released as part of the 2-Player Starter Set for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, which served as an entry point for new players to learn the game's mechanics in the early 2000s. The card was designed as a supportive spell to bolster a monster's combat effectiveness, reflecting the core gameplay loop of the era which emphasized field presence and incremental power gains through equipment.

The card's artwork features a distinct aesthetic typical of the early Kazuki Takahashi-inspired designs found in the initial TCG expansion sets. As a common rarity card, it was widely distributed and intended to be a practical, accessible tool for beginner decks rather than a centerpiece for competitive tournament play, solidifying its place as a classic piece of early Yu-Gi-Oh! history.
