Ghostrick Nekomusume

Ghostrick Nekomusume was first introduced as part of the Shadow Specters booster set in late 2013, before being reprinted as a common card in the 2014 Mega-Tin Mega Pack. It represents a key component of the Ghostrick archetype, a fan-favorite series of cards themed around creatures inspired by Halloween and ghost stories. The design aesthetic blends traditional Japanese folklore, specifically the nekomusume or cat-girl, with the playful, spooky visual language established for the archetype, which emphasizes flip-summoning mechanics and lockdown strategies.

The archetype was designed to disrupt opponents by forcing monsters into face-down defense position, and Nekomusume specifically serves as a powerful control piece that prevents higher-level monsters from attacking. Upon its release, the Ghostrick engine gained a dedicated following for its unique defensive playstyle and distinct character art. The 2014 reprint ensured that players could easily acquire the card for their decks, cementing its place as a staple within the theme's competitive and casual builds during the mid-2010s.
