Heavy Storm

Heavy Storm was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the Metal Raiders expansion, but the version from the Starter Deck 2006 serves as a key representative of its period of widespread availability. Designed as a powerful board-clearing spell card, it allowed players to destroy all spell and trap cards on the field, functioning as a tactical reset that rewarded players for controlling the pace of the duel.

The card's design and mechanical impact were central to the game's competitive identity for many years, forcing players to carefully manage their backrow commitments. The artwork, depicting a swirling, destructive vortex, perfectly encapsulated the card's disruptive role. By the time of the 2006 Starter Deck release, Heavy Storm had become a staple inclusion in competitive decks, valued for its ability to clear the way for direct attacks and prevent opponents from maintaining defensive traps.
