Heavy Storm

Heavy Storm was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2002 Metal Raiders expansion, the second core booster set released for the game. Designed as a powerful board-wiping spell card, its core utility lies in its ability to destroy all spell and trap cards on the field, forcing a reset of the game's defensive state. This mechanical simplicity made it a staple of the competitive meta for over a decade, representing the classic era of card design where high-impact spells dictated the flow of play.

The card’s artwork features a stylized, swirling cyclone that visually communicates its destructive nature. While the original Japanese artwork was preserved for the international release, the design reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of Kazuki Takahashi’s creation, emphasizing dramatic, high-energy imagery. Upon its release in Metal Raiders, it became highly sought after due to its versatility, eventually leading to its long-term presence on the game’s Forbidden and Limited list as designers sought to balance the power of unrestricted board clears.
