Kuriboh

Kuriboh was originally designed by Kazuki Takahashi for the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga series, debuting as Yugi Muto’s signature monster that frequently served as a defensive shield. The character’s design—a small, furred creature with large, expressive eyes—was crafted to embody the concept of an underdog fighter who relies on clever utility rather than raw power. Its appearance in the card game serves to translate this tactical role, utilizing its effect to negate battle damage and protect the player's life points.

The Duelist Pack: Battle City set was released as a thematic tribute to the iconic tournament arc from the original animated series, aiming to provide players with accessible versions of the cards wielded by Yugi and his contemporaries. As a common rarity inclusion in this set, this specific iteration of Kuriboh was intended to be a functional, widely available staple for fans looking to replicate the strategies seen on screen. The design maintains the aesthetic established in the early days of the franchise, preserving the classic artwork that solidified the creature as a mascot for the game.
