Provenance

Where it came from

The Last Will spell card was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in early 2004 as part of the Starter Deck: Yugi Evolution, a product designed to update the core mechanics and card pool following the success of the original Starter Deck Yugi. As a common rarity card, it served as a staple inclusion for new players looking to replicate the strategies seen in the anime, specifically those involving the quick recruitment of monsters to the field.

The card features an illustration depicting a somber, parchment-style scroll, consistent with the thematic design language established by Kazuki Takahashi for the game's early spell cards. Mechanically, it became infamous in the competitive scene due to its powerful ability to summon low-level monsters from the deck, a utility that eventually led to its restriction and eventual ban in formal tournament play due to the sheer consistency it provided to combo-oriented decks.
