Level Modulation

Level Modulation was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Cybernetic Revolution expansion in 2005. Designed as a support spell for the Toon archetype, the card allows players to Special Summon a monster from their graveyard that was previously sent there from the field, provided that monster had originally been summoned by ignoring its summoning conditions. The card's mechanics reflect the broader strategic shift of the era, which saw developers experimenting with high-risk, high-reward plays centered around graveyard recursion.

Dark Revelation Volume 4, released in 2007, served as a reprint compilation set that reissued popular and niche cards from several previous expansions, including Cybernetic Revolution. By including Level Modulation as a common rarity in this set, Konami increased the accessibility of niche technical cards for casual collectors and budget-conscious players. The card’s design features the characteristic aesthetic of the early-to-mid 2000s era of the game, prioritizing utility-focused spell effects that catered to specific, albeit somewhat situational, archetype-based strategies.
