Newdoria

Newdoria was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Dark Revelation Volume 1 set, which was released in North America in 2005. This set served as a comprehensive compilation, reprinting cards previously released in earlier expansions such as Magician's Force and Pharaoh's Servant to make them more accessible to the player base. The card itself functions as an effect monster that provides a direct, defensive removal option, triggering its effect when destroyed in battle to target and destroy a monster on the opponent's field.

The design of Newdoria draws from the distinct aesthetic of the early Yu-Gi-Oh! era, characterized by grotesque, supernatural monster concepts. Like many monsters from the period, the card was illustrated by artists under the direction of Konami, intended to capture a specific balance of tactical utility and eerie visual flair. Its inclusion in Dark Revelation Volume 1 helped solidify its presence in the competitive landscape of the mid-2000s, where its ability to trade itself for an opponent's card made it a staple utility monster for players looking to break through defensive stalemates.
