Painful Decision

Painful Decision was originally released in the 2015 set Clash of Rebellions, designed by Konami for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a core support card for the Igknight archetype. Its name and art, which depicts a character contemplating two paths, reflect the card's mechanic: searching the deck for a level 4 or lower Normal Monster and adding a copy to the hand while sending one to the graveyard. The card was designed to improve deck consistency for archetypes heavily reliant on Normal Monsters, allowing players to filter their deck and thin their resources for future plays.

The 2016 Mega-Tin Mega Pack reprint, featuring the card number MP16-EN151, provided players with a Secret Rare version of this staple spell. This particular printing was part of a retrospective collection that compiled some of the most impactful cards from the previous year's major expansions. It was generally well-received by the competitive community, as the reprint made a highly functional card more accessible to players who had missed out on its initial release, cementing its place as a reliable utility card in various graveyard-focused and monster-heavy strategies.
