Where it came from
Raidraptor - Necro Vulture was released in the 2016 Wing Raiders booster set, a pack specifically designed to support the Xyz-focused strategies prominent in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V animated series. As a member of the Raidraptor archetype—a winged-beast deck used by the character Shun Kurosaki—the card was created to provide players with graveyard recursion, allowing them to retrieve fallen members of the swarm to fuel further Xyz Summons.
The card features artwork consistent with the industrial, mechanical aesthetic of the Raidraptor theme, which emphasizes dark, avian silhouettes and sharp, armored plating. Like many Super Rare cards from this set, its design aesthetic was intended to mirror the aggressive, high-speed playstyle of its source material, and it is recognized primarily by competitive players as a niche utility tool rather than a central deck engine.
