Raidraptor - Mimicry Lanius

Raidraptor - Mimicry Lanius was released in the 2016 Wing Raiders booster set, an expansion dedicated to the Xyz-centric strategies used by characters in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V animated series. As a core member of the Raidraptor archetype, the card was designed to support the deck's focus on swarming the field with Dark-Attribute Winged Beast monsters to facilitate high-ranking Xyz summons, specifically serving as a versatile tool for both searching the archetype's spell and trap cards and manipulating its own level.

The artistic design of Mimicry Lanius reflects the mechanical, cybernetic aesthetic characteristic of the Raidraptor line, which draws inspiration from predatory birds integrated with futuristic, avian-themed tactical gear. Within the competitive meta of the time, the card was received as a functional engine piece, valued for its ability to generate resource advantage upon being banished from the graveyard. It remains a staple for players dedicated to the Raidraptor strategy, illustrating the ongoing evolution of the deck's specific search-and-summon mechanics.
