Where it came from
Reinforcement of the Army first appeared in the early 2000s as part of the Pharaonic Guardian expansion. It was designed to provide essential consistency to Warrior-type decks by allowing players to search their deck for low-level monsters. The card quickly became a staple in competitive play, leading to its inclusion in various reprint sets, including the 2013 Legendary Collection 4: Joey's World Mega Pack, which sought to celebrate the iconic cards used by the character Joey Wheeler.
The artwork features a tactical depiction of a soldier signaling for backup, capturing the utilitarian essence of the card’s function. Within the context of the game’s meta-history, the card has been subject to various restrictions and bans due to the power it provides in thinning a deck and maintaining field presence. Its status as an Ultra Rare in the Joey's World set remains popular among collectors who value the specific aesthetic of the Mega Pack re-releases.
