Salvagent Driver was originally introduced as a secret rare in the 2017 Maximum Crisis booster set before being reprinted as an ultra-rare in the 2018 Mega-Tin Mega Pack. These tins were designed by Konami as an annual compilation, aggregating the most sought-after cards from the previous year's major sets into a single product. This reprint strategy allowed players a more accessible way to acquire competitive staples and high-rarity cards that had previously been difficult to obtain.

The card itself features a mechanical, industrial aesthetic consistent with the archetypes often found in the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game. As an effect monster, its design emphasizes utility within specific deck builds, reflecting the game's shift toward complex board-state management during that period.
