Slip of Fortune

Slip of Fortune was introduced in the Ancient Prophecy booster set, released in the West during the late 2000s. As a common trap card, it was designed to provide players with a defensive utility option during a period where Yu-Gi-Oh! gameplay was shifting toward faster, more aggressive monster interactions. Its thematic focus on displacement and timing reflects the set's broader mystical and ancient archaeology motifs.

The card’s illustration and mechanical design were developed by Konami’s internal creative team to serve as a niche technical tool. While it never achieved staple status in competitive environments, it remains a recognized piece from the 5th generation of core booster sets, valued by collectors who appreciate the consistent aesthetic standards maintained during that era of the game.
