100 METERS follows Togashi, a track star who is born to run. As a kid, he is naturally gifted and wins every 100-meter race without effort. But in sixth grade, he meets Komiya, a transfer student who is full of determination but lacks technique. In teaching him, Togashi gives Komiya a new purpose: to win no matter what. Years pass by, and Togashi and Komiya meet again as rivals on the track and reveal their true selves.

Where it came from
100 Meters is a 2025 cinematic release produced under the Pony Canyon banner, emerging as part of the studio's ongoing commitment to exploring contemporary human-interest narratives within the Japanese film industry. The project was conceived to capture the psychological and physical intensity of competitive athletics, placing a specific focus on the emotional resonance found in individual achievement.
The film's visual and narrative direction reflects a modern minimalist aesthetic common in mid-2020s Japanese dramas, prioritizing character study over spectacle. While critical reception at the time of its release highlighted the production's technical precision, the film is primarily regarded as a focused effort to bring a grounded, empathetic perspective to the genre of sports filmmaking.
