Where it came from
A day before us ZERO: Merry Christmas! is a special seasonal installment within the LICO-produced animated series A day before us. Released to celebrate the holidays, the series is known for its distinct, soft-focus aesthetic and focus on the quiet, romantic developments between the lead characters, Wook and Yeo-reum. The project was created to provide a soothing, slice-of-life experience, emphasizing the subtle gestures and emotional warmth of the Christmas season.
The animation style was designed by the studio to emphasize a minimalist, character-driven narrative, favoring expressive facial movements and atmospheric backgrounds over complex action sequences.
