Air Gear: Special Trick

Air Gear: Special Trick is a single-episode original video animation released in 2007 by Toei Animation. It serves as a narrative bridge following the conclusion of the 2006 television series, which was based on the popular shonen manga by Oh! Great. The special was produced to satisfy fan interest in the series’ conclusion and to showcase the fast-paced, high-stakes aesthetic of the Air Treck racing culture, a fictional sport featuring motorized rollerblades that defined the franchise's visual identity.

The animation reflects the distinctive style of director Hajime Kamegaki, who focused on dynamic camera movements to convey the sensation of speed inherent in the manga's paneling. While the series was known for its experimental soundtrack and intense action, the special was received as a stylistic epilogue. It maintains the series' reputation for blending stylized character designs with an aggressive, neon-soaked urban atmosphere that remains a hallmark of the mid-2000s action-anime era.
