Dr. Black Jack forgot his doctor's bag, and his assistant (plus self-claimed "wife") Pinoko rushed to deliver the bag but found herself lost in the forest. Guided by a butterfly, she found that many animals in the forest are sick or injured, and Pinoko used her knowledge to help those animals.

Where it came from
Dr. Pinoco's Adventure was released in 2005 as a distinct special within the broader Black Jack multimedia franchise, produced by Tezuka Productions. The story centers on the character Pinoco, the artificial human assistant to the brilliant but unlicensed surgeon Black Jack. This installment emerged during a period of revived interest in Osamu Tezuka's seminal medical drama, building upon the narrative foundation established in his original 1970s manga series.
The design and aesthetic choices reflect the signature Tezuka style, characterized by expressive, cinematic paneling and character-driven storytelling. As part of a legacy project, the special was created to explore the emotional bond between the stoic surgeon and his companion, offering a softer, character-focused counterpoint to the series' typically gritty medical mysteries. It was generally received as a heartfelt contribution to the Tezuka canon, appealing to fans who appreciated the development of the surrogate father-daughter dynamic.
