Where it came from
Blossom was produced by Studio Ordet in 2012 as an experimental project that sought to bridge the gap between traditional Japanese animation aesthetics and modern digital storytelling. The studio, founded by former Kyoto Animation producer Hiroaki Takeuchi, focused on creating works that prioritized artistic integrity and intimate, character-driven narratives over mainstream commercial trends.
The creative direction for Blossom was heavily influenced by minimalist visual motifs and a soft, muted color palette, aimed at evoking a sense of tranquil introspection. Upon its release, it was received within the animation community as a technically precise and atmospheric short, praised for its restraint and the deliberate, fluid movement that became a hallmark of the studio’s early output.
