Blow the Flute Jaguar!

Blow the Flute Jaguar! is a 2007 original video animation produced by Kaeruotoko Shokai, based on the surreal gag manga series by Kyosuke Usuta. The series is celebrated for its low-budget aesthetic, intentionally stiff animation style, and rapid-fire absurdity, which satirizes the tropes of shonen manga and music culture. The production lean heavily into the crude, hand-drawn look of flash animation, reflecting the studio's preference for dry, deadpan comedy over polish.

The animation was directed by Frogman, who became a prominent figure in internet-based animation for his unique, minimalist storytelling approach. By stripping away traditional animation complexity, the creative team prioritized comedic timing and the surreal dialogue that defined the original manga. Upon its release, the OVA was well-received by fans of the franchise for successfully translating the manga’s offbeat pacing and eccentric character dynamics into a moving format, reinforcing its status as a cult classic of the mid-2000s anime landscape.
