Busou Shinki: Moon Angel

Busou Shinki: Moon Angel was produced in 2011 by studio TNK as an original net animation series, designed to serve as a promotional tie-in for the Konami action figure line of the same name. The series focuses on the bond between a human protagonist and his Shinki, a miniature autonomous combat robot, echoing the core aesthetic and customization philosophy of the physical figures. By releasing the episodes online in ten-part segments, the studio aimed to flesh out the lore and narrative potential of the toy line for existing fans and potential collectors.

The character designs draw heavily from the established work of various illustrators contracted for the Busou Shinki figure series, prioritizing the distinctive mecha-musume aesthetic that blends mechanical armor components with anime-style character art. While the series was received primarily as a commercial endeavor to support the brand's momentum, it is noted for its faithful translation of the figure's articulation and accessory-swapping gimmicks into an animated format, solidifying the series' role as a centerpiece for collectors of the Konami franchise.
