Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen (Zoku-hen)

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen, or Clear Card, was launched by the creative collective CLAMP in 2016 as a direct sequel to their iconic nineties magical girl series. Serialized in Nakayoshi magazine, the work emerged as a nostalgic return to the adventures of Sakura Kinomoto, exploring her life as a middle school student while introducing a new mystery involving transparent cards. It serves as both a continuation of the original narrative arc and an evolution of the aesthetic themes that established the franchise as a staple of the mahō shōjo genre.

The series remains deeply tied to CLAMP’s signature visual identity, characterized by ornate costume designs, delicate line work, and intricate floral motifs. The creators intended for the sequel to bridge the gap for a new generation of readers while honoring the emotional complexity of the original characters. Upon its release, it was met with significant anticipation, praised for maintaining the warm, character-driven tone of the predecessor while refining its artistic presentation to reflect contemporary manga sensibilities.
